In Memory of Liudmyla Mykytivna Kudriavkina

With deep sorrow, we announce an irreparable loss — on 21 January 2026, Liudmyla Mykytivna Kudriavkina passed away.

Liudmyla Mykytivna was born on 12 January 1940 in the city of Vinnytsia, into the family of a serviceman.

In 1966, she graduated from Kharkiv State University, majoring in Ukrainian Language and Literature.

Throughout her life, Liudmyla Mykytivna remained devoted to serving the Ukrainian word. She worked as an editor and proofreader at the publishing houses Dnipro and Naukova Dumka, making a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian scholarly and literary writing. For her conscientious many years of service, she was awarded the distinction “Veteran of Labour.”

From 31 March 2015, Liudmyla Mykytivna worked at the Ukrainian Lingua-Information Fund of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where her professionalism, responsibility, and exceptional attention to detail became a true pillar of our shared work. Particularly invaluable was her contribution to the Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language, especially in the preparation and editing of its materials.

Liudmyla Mykytivna left behind countless priceless editorial recommendations, always expressing them with remarkable delicacy — with care not to offend even unintentionally. Every thought of hers mattered, every remark was precise and well considered, and every conversation was filled with experience, warmth, and light.

She was an extraordinarily kind, empathetic, intelligent, and responsible person — a specialist of the highest calibre. Despite declining health in recent years, Liudmyla Mykytivna continued to work, making a substantial contribution to our shared fundamental project.

Her passing is an immense loss for her colleagues, the Ukrainian linguistic community, and all who had the honour of knowing Liudmyla Mykytivna.

We express our sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.

May her memory be bright… Eternal memory…
