August 28, 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist, the founder of the national scien-tific school in the field of computer linguistics and linguistic technologies, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology (1985), the Potebnya Prize of the NAS of Ukraine (2021), founder and permanent direc-tor (since 1991) of the Ukrainian Lingua-Information Foundation of the NAS of Ukraine, doctor of engineering sciences (1999), academician of the NAS of Ukraine (2012) Volodymyr A. Shyrokov.

On May 18, 2017, at the Kyiv House of Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were held a presentation of the two-volume edition of the "Ukrainian-Georgian-Russian-English-German-French dictionary of metallurgical terms" and a scientific seminar "International "Ukrainian-Georgian-Russian-English-German-French dictionary of metallurgical terms" — cooperation without borders".

Cело Пересопниця, що на Рівненщині, отримало шанс на відродження. Саме у тамтешньому монастирі у 1561 році просвітитель Михайло Василевич та архімандрит Григорій завершили роботу над перекладом канонічного тексту Євангеліє староукраїнською мовою.

КРУГЛИЙ СТІЛ «МОВА І КУЛЬТУРА» З НАГОДИ МІЖНАРОДНОГО ДНЯ РІДНОЇ МОВИ

Організатор: Національна академія наук України. Час і місце проведення: 21 лютого 2011 року о 16 годині у приміщенні Великого конференц-залу НАН України (вул. Володимирська, 55, 2-й поверх, малий зал).
За пропозицією держав-членів ЮНЕСКО Генеральна конференція організації у листопаді 1999 року проголосила Міжнародний день рідної мови. Уперше він святкувався 21 лютого 2000 року у штаб-квартирі ЮНЕСКО в Парижі.

Заснування Дня рідної мови має велике значення, адже за оцінками фахівців, із понад 6000 мов, які нині існують у світі, значна частина перебуває під загрозою зникнення у найближче десятиріччя. Залучення уваги міжнародної спільноти до цієї теми є важливим кроком до визнання необхідності захисту різноманіття культур.
